Hello!

My name is Tove Malm, and I am an illustrator, surface designer and lettering artist. I run Tove Malm Studio, where I find an outlet for my passion for nature, flowers, everyday life and color. Through my travels I constantly find new inspiration and love to explore new places.

Inspiration from Nature and Scandinavia

My love for Scandinavian design permeates all of my work. I have always been fascinated by the clean, minimalist aesthetic characterized by soft woods, warm textures, and matte surfaces. What I love about Scandinavian design is how these elements, often inspired by nature’s own colors and shapes, can create a sense of calm and harmony. What really inspires me is the ability to combine these elements with the playfulness and color palette that comes from the Mediterranean. This mix of simplicity and playfulness creates a unique dynamic that I carry with me in all of my works.

Exciting Collaborations and Projects

Over the years, I have had the great pleasure of collaborating with various retailers and creating product illustrations that are actually seen in stores. It is an amazing feeling to see my work take on a life of its own on products, and I am so grateful for these collaborations. I have also had the privilege of working with branding, where I create logos and design materials for both web and social media. Helping small and growing businesses build their visual identity is something that is close to my heart, and I see it as a privilege to be a part of their journey.

New in Children's Book Illustrations

In the past year, I have taken a big step in my creative career – I have started working with children's book illustrations. My first book, Sigrid under Isen, written by Inger Landberg and published by Idus Förlag, was released in 2023 and has already become an important part of my creative life. This book is extra special to me, and I am pleased to be able to offer it directly here on the blog. Creating illustrations that engage and inspire children is something I truly love.

Future Dreams and Development in Pattern Design

I have long dreamed of creating wallpapers and patterns that can bring life and personality to any room. Over the past year, I have taken a deep dive into pattern design and started an education to further this passion. This new path in my creative process is still in the development phase, but I am really looking forward to sharing my wallpaper collections with you as soon as they are finished. I hope that my patterns will contribute the same sense of playfulness and harmony that I love to create in all my works.
